Na h-Eileanan an Iar MSP Alasdair Allan has announced this year’s winner of the annual school competition to design his official Christmas Card.

The winner was chosen from among hundreds of different entries from primary schools across the Isles. The eventual winner was Primary 7 Ellie-Ceit Johnson from Sir E Scott school in Harris. Ellie-Ceit was presented with an array of Scottish Parliament-themed prizes on Monday morning.

The winning entry will be sent out to many people and organisations locally and nationally, including one to First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Congratulating Ellie-Ceit while visiting Sir E Scott school to present the prizes, Alasdair Allan MSP said:

“As always, it was an incredibly difficult task to choose a winner. There were so many high quality entries from children all across the islands.

“However, we eventually settled on Ellie-Ceit’s entry which excellently depicted Santa and his reindeer flying over a very festive-looking Scalpay Bridge.

“I would like to thank all pupils for taking part and our sponsors the Crown Hotel, Harris Tweed Hebrides and AJ Martin Builders for making this year’s competition possible.

“I want to wish everyone across the Isles a very happy Christmas.”
