SNP MSP for Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Alasdair Allan, has said proposals in this year’s Programme for Government will go a long way to improving the health of communities across the Western Isles as well as tackling litter.

The SNP Scottish Government committed to a range of actions to reduce vaping and its impacts, including tackling the associated environmental impact and consulting on the banning of disposable vapes.

Commenting, Alasdair Allan said:

“The First Minister’s Programme for Government demonstrates the SNP’s commitment to improving the lives and wellbeing of people across the Western Isles and Scotland as a whole.

“The Scottish Government is aware of concerns regarding the impact of vaping, both on the increasing number of young people using vapes and on the environment. I am very pleased to see steps being taken to address the impact of these devices, and I believe this will make a real difference to the long-term health of local teenagers in particular.”
