SNP MSP for Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Alasdair Allan, has welcomed the latest figures showing that 2,170 properties across the Western Isles have benefited from £5.8 million worth of non-domestic rates relief this year, thanks to SNP policies.
Non-domestic rates relief lowers bills for eligible organisations, through initiatives like the Small Business Bonus Scheme – which offers 100% non-domestic rates relief for eligible businesses.
Alasdair Allan MSP has welcomed these figures, which show the value that the SNP Scottish Government places on supporting small business and organisations in the Western Isles and across Scotland.
Commenting, Allan said:
“I welcome the news that 2,170 local businesses here in the Western Isles are benefiting from £5.8m in rates relief this year, thanks to our business positive policies.
“At a time when many businesses are struggling, the Scottish Government’s wide range of non-domestic rates relief policies are a lifeline for many small businesses and organisations, and it is important to highlight the impact of the Scottish Government’s islands-specific rates relief policy, which gives hospitality businesses across the Western Isles a 100% business rates relief up to £110,000 per property.
“The Scottish Government’s rates relief policies are the most generous anywhere in the UK – especially the Small Business Bonus. This substantial level of rates relief across our area shows the value that the SNP places on supporting local businesses and organisations here in the Western Isles.”
