Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP, Alasdair Allan, has warmly welcomed the announcement that there will be 17 additional round trip flights on the Barra – Glasgow route this summer.

The announcement follows an agreement between Loganair and the Scottish Government to ensure additional capacity.

Alasdair Allan MSP commented:

“The air link to Glasgow is vitally important to the local economy, as well as a crucial lifeline to NHS patients. It is a great testament to the attractiveness of Barra as a holiday destination that booking the plane in summer had become increasingly difficult unless done well in advance.

“The agreement between the Scottish Government and Loganair will now see 3 daily return flights to Glasgow during the busiest summer period.

“This is great news for Barra and the local community deserves praise for the way they have engaged with Transport Scotland and diligently pushed the case for additional flights.”
