Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP Alasdair Allan is urging crofters in the Western Isles to respond to a consultation on the priorities for future crofting law.

The public consultation seeks opinions on the form of new legislation and priorities for legislative change to ensure crofting law is fit for the 21st century. It will run for 12 weeks and will end on 20 November.

Alasdair Allan MSP commented:

“The prospect of another crofting bill provides an opportunity to simplify and improve crofting legislation. More importantly though, it gives us a chance to consider what we want for crofting in the future.

“If the bill is to be a success, we need to have something like a consensus around what it is setting out to achieve, and I hope that the consultation will be a way to achieve that.

“I encourage all crofters and all those with an interest in the future of crofting communities to take part in the consultation by contacting This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..”
