Alasdair Allan, MSP for Na h-Eileanan an Iar, has announced the winner of his annual Christmas card competition. Earlier this week Allan presented a prize to this year’s winner, Isla Morrison, who is in P7 at Stornoway Primary.
Isla’s design shows Santa riding a quadbike adorned with Christmas lights, with sheep in the trailer against a backdrop of falling snow. This design will feature on Alasdair Allan MSP’s Christmas cards, which will be sent to over 2500 individuals and organisations both in the constituency and across the country.
Since he was first elected in 2007, Allan has invited school pupils across the Western isles to submit Christmas card design entries.
Allan commended this year’s winning design, saying:
“There were a huge number of fantastic entries this year, and it was very difficult to choose a winner. That being said, Isla’s design stood out in that it encapsulated some of the unique nature and fun of celebrating Christmas time in the Western Isles. I like to think that if Santa did live here, he’d be helping out with some crofting in between his present deliveries!
“I would like to thank all the pupils who took part in this year’s competition, and also this year’s sponsors, namely Castleview Dental Practice, Ken MacDonald Lawyers and Estate Agents and Bob Golland Oil and Plumbing Services, for their generous donations towards the cost of printing the cards.
“I would like to wish each of my constituents a restful and merry Christmas with their loved ones. Nollaig Chridheil dhuibh uile!”
