MSP for Na h- Eileanan an Iar, Alasdair Allan has commented on the recent news that the First Minister is to resign from office once the SNP has selected a new leader.

Alasdair Allan MSP said:

”This news is unexpected, but the First Minister made a very human speech about the personal pressures of leading a country through both Brexit and a pandemic. After eight years as Scotland’s longest serving First Minister, I believe her contribution has been outstanding.

“I have known Nicola Sturgeon since we were both students, and it has always been obvious what a person of integrity she is, as well as being an immense asset to the independence cause. She has received significant recognition internationally for these qualities.

“I wish her well for the future.”
